  • I really enjoyed watching the Royal Wedding yesterday.  Yeah, yeah, I know such things seem like a left over relic from the Medieval times, but I still found it appealing.

I can't help but thinking, will William and Kate be more well-grounded than the previous generation of Royals?  Yes, Princesses Diana had appeal, but she was an emotional wreck who was constantly jumping from man to man looking for love.  Prince Charles, well.....sure can't figure him out.  Fergie?  Well, she is now the left-over party girl trying to scrape up cash.

    Thoughts?  Or.........WHO CARES??? lol

  • I think that this glamorous event came at the best possible time, the whole world forgot about the financial crisis and the struggles in the Middle East even for just one day. Not me though, I didn't follow the wedding because I don't really like weddings in general. And since this was a "super-wedding" I just had to avoid it smiley

  • i thought it was entertaining for the first five minutes that the day long tv show was broadcast in my household....my only question was....who picks up the bill?  seems like you could of had a closed production that was world wide broadcast that would have perhaps been a little cheaper.  Once the money was spent and the dust is clear.....was it worth it?

  • With so much going on in this world right now it was nice to have a reprieve from it all and have a world wide unity of a pure romance in the air.

I think that there will be a shift doc in a more modern approach of the way things are looked at with this young couple. I think that is the legacy Diana left behind.

  • Personally, I think the Queen made William marry Kate (or end the relationship).  They were previously living together (they could have been roomates, but it looks bad anyway).

  • lips......I'm really unsure of the "legacy" Diana left behind; though, your point (as usual) is excellent.

Some see/remember Diana as an admirable woman.  But, I remember her as a mixed up woman living a plush life....always globe-trotting around the world with different men, leaving her small children behind often.

  • I think they are more grounded than the previous generation.

Lips is absolutely right - Diana did lead the way in trying to bring her children up in as normal a life as she possibly could.  I don't remember Diana for her chasing men near the end of her unhappy shortened life, I remember her for showing the world that whilst Aids is a deadly disease, it is not something you can catch by just shaking an infected person's hand...for being brave and walking through a mine laiden field..for helping starving children with their dire needs.....and for showing the world that just because she was the future Queen, she could face things head on, no matter what.  As far as having to be away from her children with all these visits, that was part of her duty as the Princess to the future King of England.  For all the things that Diana did, Wills and Harry have certainly benefited by being "normal" well balanced children and adults.

I think (and hope) Will and Kate will bring their children up in the same way that Diana brought Wills and Harry up.  Definitely more grounded and definitely more hands on.

  • I miss Diana.  She would have made a great Queen :'(
