        Hiya LCB'ers,

I have just recently discovered Casino cafes. I had no idea they became legal until a friend called me and said "hey did you see that new Casino Cafe around the corner from you"? I said what in the world are you talking about!

So naturally i had to check it and soon found out there are like three of them within a few mile radius of where i live. When i walked in i noticed there was only 5 Slots machines. A member of the staff explained to me that that by law they are only allowed to have 5 machines.

These are multiple game machines from big software giants like WMS, IGT and Aristocrat. They also include a wide selection of Video Poker games that feature a Wheel Spin after getting four of a kind 5 - K for an extra cash Bonus. The Wheel is also available on Slots that will randomly trigger when placing max bets.

I tried the Video Poker games and noticed that the Royal Flush normally worth 4,000 credits was only 2,000 credits because again by law the machines can only payout a $500 Jackpot at one time. The good news is a Straight Flush also pays out 2,000 credits as well as Aces and 2,3,4 of a kind with the kicker on Triple Bonus Play.

These cafes don't offer any rewards programs but do offer free food and non alcoholic drinks while you play.

I didn't think i would be too fond of them, but according to what i was told the machines are set a bit looser than big land based Casinos for a competitive edge. I did sit down and play for a bit and will be writing a Casino blog on my experience there.

Does anyone else have these Casino Cafes in their area, if so do you like them?

I never thought I'd see the day when that happened. It's pretty cool and I can't wait to hear about your experiences. I checked one out and played some IGT slots. I must say that they did pay much better than any of the IGT slots I played online. Some of the cafes are a little creepy. They're actually machines in the back of a bar which would make me a little nervous.

That's true froggy, while these Casino Cafes are actually quite nice inside some are placed in vulnerable areas and seems like it could be a open door to undesirable characters.

Are these in the US, Lips?  If so, I think they're regulated by state law.  Here in SC, they're illegal, but places still get busted here on a regular basis.  I never seem to find them BEFORE they bust them, tho.

I have a few by me too! I was super excited, it hopefully means we are that much closer to legalizing online gambling! Well one could at least hope...

Yes it is legal and regulated in Illinois. It is a recent law that what just passed. Not only do they offer gambling in these Casino Cafes but also in bars. They are opening up everywhere. I know of three particular Gaming companies one of which has already opened up 63 in the state of Illinois and by the end of the year plans on having a total of 300 open. That's just one company. It has exploded in my state and should be a matter of time before more states start offering legalized Casino Cafes.

I think you are right fried eggs. The states are getting more and more lenient on gambling. And it is definitely a matter of time as legislation realizes the revenue that can be made off gambling.

DAMN it!  Freaking "bible belt" South Carolina.  >:(

Video Poker used to be legal here in the late 90's/early 20's, but they decided it was too evil, so they made it illegal again.  Those are the machines they find all the time, too.  lol

Ya know lhasalover Illinois was a pretty straight laced state too. I was in shock when i discovered all these Casino cafes all over the place, even machines in the bars?? Illinois was one of the first states to disallow online Casino gambling and had such strict rules about how land based Casinos had to be on water before they would issue a license.

I think it will be a matter of time and South Carolina will legalize it too. I think it is a perfect outing for folks like you that are not feeling well enough to travel. Plus there is no crazy crowds or fighting for a parking spot.

Hang in there and let us know when they come to your area cuz it will!

Here in Florida they had those "internet cafes"  which supposedly you would win  credit or merchandise or something and then cash it in for real money---Not sure exactly how it worked but there was a huge stink about 'em this last year or so and now they all went the way of the dinosaur.  It's really weird how the politician's seem to have this love-hate relationship with these places.  The big thing now is the tracks (dog and horse) have the poker rooms and that's a real big draw apparently.

I am still waiting Bongo for the race tracks in my state to allow Casinos. I think it would really help the racing industry that has fast become a dying sport. I would hate for that to happen and allowing a Casino at the track would definitely boost horse racing.

I live in a little Podunk town in Missouri and there is one slot machine at the local bar. It's a pretty old fruit style one. It takes cash, then pays you in tickets. The tickets only dispense in $5 increments and when you 'cash out' you give your tickets to the bartender. They put them in an envelope with your name on them and you pick up your money the next day. I've never even played it but now I want to go try it out haha!
