  •             I don't know how the machines operate in other parts of the country/globe,  but locally the Hard Rock here prints out tickets when you cash out from a machine.  When I was in Vegas during the 90's  I loved hearing the coins as they hit the tray.  I don't know--that pitch seemed to alter my reality briefly but I kind of liked it 'cause you just reach down, grab your loot and keep some, reinvest some and so on.  With the tickets,  I think I'll stay at a machine longer 'cause to me it's a pain in the ass to have to get the ticket and wait for a change attendant or go to a machine and change it, etc.  I think those days however are probably gone.

  • Great thread Bongo...for me personally when i first started going to land based casinos I was tickled pink to cashout and have coins falling out of the machine lol. To me I felt like I won a whole lot more than I actually did. Now in the casinos close to me they print you a ticket. The ticket is interchangeable meaning you can stick it in other machines which is very very tempting. Usually when I print my ticket I go find the nearest cashout station so that I can put it away and act like I didn't win until I leave. I wish they gave you the option to cashout with coins or a ticket.

  • I vote for the coins! Not sure what makes the better case for cashing out, but I just loooove the sound of coins coming out...

  • So glad they got rid of coins and went to tickets.  Coins can get really heavy and then you have to look for a bucket!  I for one am glad those days are over.

  • I am partial to the coins. I hate change for one and for two i love the coins and the way you can carry them around to the next machine or ash them in.

  • Oh my gosh-i LOVED coins-the best was that rush you got when your bucket was full as the money was coming out, and you are doing the mad grab around looking for a bucket(not even concerned with it being filthy or not haha) and then when you are trying to keep the coins from falling out of the buckets stacked on top of eachother, quickly walking to the cage for the cashiers to pour your buckets into the machine, watchig the amount move up quickly!!!  miss those days!!

oh, and as for the tickets-nothing like getting all the way home and realizing you had a ticket at the bottom of the purse-damn could have played longer haha!

  • I prefer tickets over the coins it's easier to cash out. I always use money when playing on slots and I never use tickets to load slots. If I run out of money I go to cashier and cash out all my tickets and play with money again,...

  • yes we too in Latvia have tickets, i think its much easer, u can see all ur money on ticket not 100`s of coins, and i preffer to use tickets for cash in and out, only if i win big i chashed out from tickets and then start it again..

  • I love the sound of the coins myself however, fake pound coins are rife in the UK and I can see the "ticket" route being taken over here very soon.  The fake coins crisis has meant that a new  one pound coin is being put into circulation.

  •             Wow Blue, that seems like a lot of trouble to counterfeit heavy metal coins.  I understand the convenience reasons behind making the move to tickets but I really miss that ding-ding-ding-ding sound the coins made and  I also felt like I had more money when I could carry a bucket full of 'em

  • Awesome thread bongo! I prefer the ticket or as we call here "Voucher". Having a bunch of coins fall in the machine well and then trying to get buckets to fill them all up and carry them to the cashier was very heavy.

If there is more than one win its tough to know exactly how many coins you have where the credits in the machine give an exact total making it easier to keep track of your money. They have kiosks all over the casino and does not require waiting in long lines at the cashier which makes it really easy to cashout vouchers.

I also thought scooping up the coins and putting them back in the machine made it much easier to blow it all back because you couldn't keep an exact count on how much you were spending.

The only thing i do miss is the exciting sound of it falling and hearing that cling, cling!

  •             I don't mind the workout (carrying several heavy coin laden buckets).  Good for me; builds character.  I use to love to grab a handful of the coins and say okay I'm keepin' this much and playin' with the rest.  It actually helped me more with my money management.    Oh,  hey everyone---Look  who just made Super Hero Member  Super Bongo exclamation

  • Yay you are a Super Hero! Congrats and thanks for being such a big part of our LCB forum! You are our kryptonite!

  • Off topic, I have seen the picture of the new UK Pound, it looks just awesome! Got to get one asap!

Congrats Bongo on the new title!

  •             Wow, that sure is purty,  what is that composed of?  Silver, Gold?  Nice looking coin.  Are those the ones Blue was talking about  that are actually being counterfeited?  Looks like that would be extremely difficult.

  • I like the tickets too. It's much simpler than carrying around a bucket of coins and being required to wait in line to cash them in. What does suck is that the machines in the casino cafes do not take them. You have to literally cash in your voucher if you want to switch slots.

  •             Wow, that sure is purty,  what is that composed of?  Silver, Gold?  Nice looking coin.  Are those the ones Blue was talking about  that are actually being counterfeited?  Looks like that would be extremely difficult.

No - those are not the ones being counterfeited and no, there's no silver or gold in them.  They are the new ones to stop the fake pounds hitting the streets.  The current pound coin is round.

The new one reminds me of the old threepenny bit (3d) - that was 12 sided too.

  • I remember going to vegas one year and winning like 100 pounds of freaking nickels out of of a slot.  It was awesome, but definitely worth a lot more money back then than it is now.  If people won nickels now they would probably just give them to a bum on Freemont lol.

  • I actually really like the new cash out to card method available at 2 casinos I play at.
Then you don't even have the chance of loosing your ticket.  To cash the money off of my players card is easy as swiping it at the cash terminal or at the cashier.  Then putting in your pin, then you got your cash.
    Also tickets aren't bad.
The main thing I missed about the coins was the more frequent "hand pays" that happened.  Mainly because the hoppers would only pay out so much.  Before triggering a hand pay.

  • Oh wow i have never heard of that being credited to your players card. That's an awesome concept. What casinos are doing that?

  • Never heard of the credit to the player's card either. Very cool concept.

  • It's mainly in test mode at both casinos, Meskwaki and Jumers.  Like they have information about it if you want to use the system.  Otherwise it's not a big push right now.
You can still cash out via ticket.  Which is the default cash out method if you hit the standard cash out button.
Otherwise if you go into your players screen, there's an option that says cash out machine.  Then it'll cash out your whole machine's credits to the card.
The under the same screen you can also add credits to a machine as well.
Then as stated before, when you want your cash.  You can go to the cashier or up to any of the newer ticket cash out kiosks.  Swipe your card and tell the machine whether you want to cash out your whole card, or if you wish you can cash out only part of your funds.  Then save some of it for the a future visit, or to put into a new machine.
Now the only downfall to the kiosk cash out method.  Is out of all of the cash out machines at both places.  They only have 2 machines in Jumers (out of cool and 3 machines (out of 13) that will accept your players card.  Otherwise you have to go up the cashier to get your cash.

  • Well i hope it catches on because it sounds like a fantastic idea. I think it would be great. Wouldn't it be nice if you could take it a step further and use as a debit card!

  • This available at the Genting casino in Glasgow were i sometimes play and is a great way to play as
you don't have to carry buckets of coins or keep tickets. Also your card holds your player points and you can get free credits applied when you hit x amount of points. As cheetahwind says all you have to do is
take your card to the kiosk and cash out.

  • This sounds like a good idea... Haven't seen it yet, but is should be faster and more convenient...

  •             Yeah,  I kind of like the card idea for more than just accumulating comps.    It would be nice if it were like a VISA or MC debit card, though.  Only thing is it might be easier to lose; how many times have we forgotten our cards while they were in the machine?

  • At the bookmakers where slots are £500 jackpot it is always a voucher and you can collect the cash from the counter in notes. Years back I know william hill even did this at their online casino. If you won you could print a ticket with a unique barcode on it. Then you could take it to the bookmaker and cash it in for notes.

Apart from the fobt's at the bookies, all the arcade machines pay coins. Pub fruit machines are the worst for this as they can pay notes but if you win £100 it will only give 1 £10 note and the rest in pound coins.

As for the new £1 coins, they aren't in circulation yet? and I don't think they are planned to be in circulation until at least 2016 (It's a counterfeiting measure more than anything as millions of fake £1 coins are in circulation currently)
