  • The question is would or maybe a better way to put it is could you? Suppose you were given the golden opportunity with a decent job and found a great house for a good price would you take up the offer.

I would love having the warm weather year round but i wonder if i lived there if i'd end up with a tin cup standing on the corner surrounded by all the gambling temptations!

    How about you?

  • Me too lips!  When I discuss this with friends we all say we would be living in the gutter if we lived in Vegas.

But...recently I have become a much more responsible gambler.  First of all I have switched to playing blackjack mostly instead of slots.  I still play slots a little, but the majority of my time is spent playing blackjack.

My local casino is 20 minutes from my house.  I go 3-4 times a week.  If I get up a decent amount I GO HOME!  Even if it is just a few hundred and I am not feeling that lucky, I leave knowing I can go back tomorrow.  We have a nice dinner while there and stay just a couple hours most times.  It is perfect.

I have found this to work quite well.

    Nice topic.

  • I would definitely move  worn_out. I would love being close to the casino but i would probably be at the slots as much as i could be. I have never had that much access to slots at a land based casino so i would have to make sure i didn't develop a gambling problem or i would end up broke , divorced and homeless  surprise.

  • I could not move!  I would  be living in sewers in matter of months as i would gamble  my salary away in that tempting environment for sure.  hysterical Already horrified  what will happen  when i go Vegas first time laugh_out_loud

  • I would in a shot, but would have to promise myself to give up slots. Just play poker once a month, no cash games. If I did not do that I might end up like what rena said

Omg I laughed so hard reading your post because it's exactly how I feel. It's like putting a kid in a candy store and telling them they can't have any!
  • Tricky question indeed. I guess there would have to be some rules, budget limits, but would it really work? Perhaps, in a way, every gambler has, more or less, an addictive personality.  Funny but very true observations by all previous posters, really made me laugh.

  • At the moment, I would take up this opportunity in a blink of an eye. I am not happy where I live now, so I would be much happier in America, I am sure about that, and Las Vegas is a really nice place. As for the gambling, it would definitely be weird, but I don't think I would go much to casinos.. In the first few months, sure, but after that not that often.. But my answer is yes!

  • I'd like to live there for two weeks - I guess a holiday would be cheaper laugh_out_loud

Like everyone else, I'd be broke within the month and living in the gutter with my cup in hand and my hopeful but pathetic face looking for some spare change.

  •                   Good question Lips,  personally I would love to live in Vegas as I think it would be very
exciting,  something always happening,  and I love live music--and let's face it,  damn near every entertainer plays there sometime or another.  I would definitely have to become extremely disciplined though.  I remember when my wife and I were there in '95 or '96  in a taxi,  the driver said about 80-85%
of the people that live there don't gamble.  I found that really interesting.  Of course......I would definitely
be in  the other 15-20%.  laugh_out_loud exclamation

  • I would be in the same percentile as you bongo!

  • Yeah though Bongo I could see that though.

Being the fact I'm sure most of the community is involved in some aspect of the gambling.  Seeing some of the people who do gamble go through tough times and what not.  Seeing all of the money put into gambling.  I"m sure most of the community just uses gambling as a job, and would rather not see there money see the same fate as many that they have seen.

  • Maybe if I was born there things would be different for me and the temptations would be lower but in my case I don't even try to imagine the repercussions. smiley))) Vegas is a great City and being a gambler in such a place it's very hard to control myself.

  •               I agree Edi,  it would require lots of discipline as well as deep pockets (for Me) .  I heard recently
though the real estate values have dropped and you can get a really sweet deal on a house......I better stop
before I talk myself into something.. laugh_out_loud

  • Hmmm interesting topic this and I must agree with Blue day two weeks would be great any more than that and i do believe the temptations there and the guilty pleasures would overwhelm me and I probably wouldn't make it out alive  (RR)
