Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee has refused to makes its revenue payment to the state of Wisconsin due to Gov. Scott Walker's consideration for the opening of a competing casino in nearby Kenosha.
Potawatomi is run by the Ho-Chunk Nation and the new casino would be run off-reservation by the Menominee Nation. It would increase revenue for the state; however the deal that the Ho-Chunk tribe has will make the state responsible for its losses created by the opening of this new casino. Losses could be so significant that Potawatomi may end up owing nothing to the state.
The governor has until February 19, 2015 to make a final decision.
Potawatomi has been building a new hotel and it's fabulous so the new casino would have quite a high expectation to live up to.
