    For those of us in New England, there are now an ever growing amount of land based casino options. Wondering which are worth the gamble or drive? For me, the two oldest regional casinos are at least a two hour drive- Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Closer, there's Twin River and a few other slot parlors in RI, and the newly opened Plainridge Park.

    I mostly play video poker and I like to win and this is what I've found-

    Foxwoods- do your research on which machines actually payout and pay close attention to the paytables! Most of the machines mad at 25 credits, not 5, which can be confusing and/or an unpleasant surprise if you're used to hitting max bet. Jacks or better or deuces wild tend to have the best payouts, but overall I find Foxwoods to be very rapey.

    Mohegan- not a lot of offerings and very spread out. Try the (very small) high rollers room.

    Twin River- plenty of very old style "video action" deuces, but be ready to wait if you want to use one of the 26 game kings, offering triple double, job, deuces, jokers, bonus poker, and double double. Five cent machines up to 100 credit, 25-50-100, and be sure not to miss the 1$+ in the high roller room. I've had great luck playing deuces on VA and doubling down.

    Plainridge- be sure to hit up the multi game multi denom game kings in the bar area, otherwise it's all triple, five, and ten play. Best bets deuces or double double.
