  • I have a funny kind of philosophy about Roulette. I love the game but never play it locally only when i am on a trip to Vegas, Atlantic City etc.

The first time i ever played Roulette was my second trip to Vegas and my best friend was a huge Roulette fan and talked me into playing it after we arrived. We stayed at the Flamingo and first thing we did was head to the Roulette table. She showed me how to play i got myself busy playing my fav numbers.

Now mind you we were suppose to all meet up for dinner in like an hour and thought that was plenty of time to play. Well my numbers began popping and i was like a kid in a candy store i was so excited!  I ended up $400 ahead when the group that went with me gathered around and said lets go its time for dinner!  I was like dinner?? Screw dinner i don't want to go to dinner i am on a winning streak here!

Needless to say i begrudging went to dinner. The next day we decided to go downtown and headed for the Horseshoe Casino. I made my way straight to the Roulette table. I played for hours and again my numbers kept popping. Everybody at the table was rubbing me for luck and started putting chips on the same numbers as i did. I ended up winning $700 that night. Looking back i wish i had placed more chips on my numbers but because i was so new at it i played fairly tight.

I wanted to go right back to the Horseshoe the next night but everybody wanted to hangout on the Strip but promised we would go back the following night. As planned we went back two days later. The dealer see's me coming and says "where were you last night, your numbers hit all night long"!  Arggggggggggggg i was wondering could they hit again three nights in a row?

Unfortunately they did not. But that's when i learned a very important lesson when going to Vegas. The plan is to make no plans because you never know when you are on a hot roll and those plans could change in a heartbeat!

  • Interesting story! I never had my lucky numbers, and I have never played live roulette, but this got me thinking a little, and I am making a list, just in case I hit a roulette table.
I think that I would be too nervous to think of the strategy, and just put chips on a few numbers or color. Anyone with a good strategy for roulette?

  • Picking the numbers is sheer luck. Strategy all depends on what type of bet you place. There are several ways to bet but to get the largest return placing a chip directly on the center of the number is the best way to go. For better odds and more chances to win placing a chip on a corner of a number will give you 4 chances to win any numbers that connect to that corner.

Wagering on black or red is 50/50 shot so is playing even/odd numbers. Of course the payout is only double of  what your bet is.

I like Roulette because of the action and excitement at the tables makes it a whole lot of fun when there is a big group playing.

  • Thanks lips. I usually pick a number and color, but so far, I was really great of picking the wrong ones smiley

  • Now your talking my language Lips, worst odds but I still love it!!! I have a few numbers that are a must, 27, 23, 34, 36 and 31. I always start out pretty good then I start to bet real heavy and every time I hit a bigger pot I ask for at least a blk chip. Where does that chip go? Right in my pocket and sometimes it comes right back out  wink. I have been on a great roll lately and have walked on an average with $400/$500. More than the money it's the thrill, I have my odd little habits to boot.

One of my favorite stories, is I had spent the whole weekend at Ceasars in Vegas, well it was brutal as far as luck. While we were checking out I decided to walk in over for one last bet I mean what the hell, I last my butt off at this point. Well luckily I did bet heavy on 27 and hit, I won everything I lost, travel expense and a few extra bucks. I was screaming and of course didn't want to leave! It was hard to walk away but it hooked me in even more.

  • Wow, that's some story! I've never won more than $100, and usually just call it quits when I hit the first wall:-)
I would love to go to Vegas, and I just know that I would go wild!

  • Game i have never tried in real.Maybe i will try it  wink

  • Somebody was watching over you that day. I avoid the tables at all costs with the exception of a couple  blackjack hands.  How do you all weigh in on electronic roulette games? I got nothin but losing stories on that.

  • Fantastic story fried eggs! That's the way to win on the way home from Vegas.

@tommyguns - I have played the electronic Roulette. It has it's advantages because the minimum bets are not as steep and you can play for a lot less than you would at the tables. On the other side of the coin it lacks the action the tables have with players high 5'ing each other and just the over all rush of placing your chips in a hurry while you are elbow to elbow with players. And if you have a good dealer he/she can make it loads of fun tool

  • I have played the electronic when I have bottomed out at the real tables. I prefer when you have the actual wheel in front of you and your own screen verses the electric wheel. They can be pretty tough to get on at times. I just try to build a stack and head back to the live action!

  • What's the difference between American Roulette and European Roulette? I have never played European Roulette as they are not really available in US casinos. If anyone has played would love to hear about your experiences, preferences and differences between the two variations!

European roulette only has one zero whereas US roulette has zero and double zero.  The house edge on European roulette is 2.7% whereas on US roulette it is a lot higher at 5.27% so play European roulette whenever possible if you're a roulette fan.

I've not been to the casino for a long time and the last experience I had was to lose on the roulette table although my son had a good win at around £535.
  • Didn't know that Blue, ill def have to check it out if I ever get the chance!
