  • Been a while since any post's since I haven't been gambling....until today.

It's just a reminder of why online gambling is so much better.

Baking hot day here, had a few beers and thought I would try 1 of the bookmaker FOBT terminals. They are notoriously bad for ripping the punter off as I put in another thread but the last few times playing I got a bit lucky.

Seriously wish I had done a video of the session but a huge lesson was learned I think.... Avoid them.

Having £200 on me to gamble with I started on a slot that normally pays well. I can't remember the name of it but its a Thor theme and the bonus features are a bit like "Jack Hammer" where it can respin multiple times until theres no extra win line made.

Put it this way... £150 down, no free spins, only 1 win which was 5x bet, the rest were rubbish.

Last £50, was on "Queen of the amazon". It just had to tease me with 1 of the final spins by giving me 2 scatters, but not a 3rd.

A bit gutted really, thought of would of had some enjoyment at least... instead it was probably 15 mins of play time and a dent in my wallet.

Really think I should rethink gambling at all as when it want's to screw you over, it really will do it in style

  • How much were you betting per spin? I enjoy going in and playing these games from time to time, but you have to be prepared to lose most of the times when you go in, its just the way it works.. and if you were playing £2 a spin or so, you can't be too surprised if you fail to hit a feature, most of the time the odds are around 150-1 so I always try and have at least 300 spins of bankroll if possible, whether online or in the bookies.

Aside from that, I usually go for the blackjack epecially in william hills - I'll usually just try a £20, if I can get £50 in the bank I'll take it and leave - some days I achieve this in five minutes or so and walk away smiling, others I might lose but spend an hour playing the game and watching a few races. Whatever happens I leave feeling content, I can't say the same about the times I've burnt £100 on the slots in under five minutes.

  • Went for the max of £2 a spin buddy. Actually did some of them "Fortune spins" as well that claim to boost the payout %.... Seems like that was a rip too.

I think I get the fruit machine vibe from them which makes me want to play on. You know with fruit machines where they compensate losses so people can force JP. People that play at my local bookies can be pretty stupid or just play £10 or less so chances are they walk away empty handed.

Saying that though, in theory they should work that way, especially with a higher payout % but with forced win's and and "RNG" it can easily be already paying at beyond the average payout % without the punter knowing and they can get ripped off.

The problem with BJ on them machines is its more about getting a quick profit and walking or getting screwed completely. Years back on that the dealer had BJ several times in a row and with the 1 hand I stood at 20, he had 21. It does happen online and for real but more frequently on FOBT's.

Sucks for UK bricks and mortar slot players really overall. Especially with £100 JP machines in pubs now that usually take £150+ to payout a £100 JP.

  • The FOBT machines claim to be entirely random, just as with online slots, but I must admit I too have some doubts with regards this... when I used to venture in only once in a blue moon, I did experience random behaviour - for example my VERY first trip in the bookies to play one of these machines I hit £325 in under 20 spins on rainbow riches(from a £1 spin), - I cashed out immediately, unbelievably I had gone in the bookies with ten quid depressed as hell as I didn't have enough cash to sort out an important bill, and within just moments, the problem was solved... in the long run though, that day did me not much good whatsoever - I've yet to have a comparable experience to this day smiley

As for the blackjack, yeah I have seen some pretty disgusting stuff, but I tell myself it is entirely possible that would happen with a random deck... I will be honest though, on a day I was in hills and saw the dealer score BJ/21 no less than SIX times in a row, I had to make a major effort to restrain myself from losing the plot, and left in disgust... these things dont happen often but when they do, it really puts me off going on for a while.

  • Spinning on the one arm bandits is such a hit or miss thing.  It is one thing to walk out losing but as long is there was a good run of play time. But when it eats your money alive in a short amount of time or gives out Free Spins with a payout that barely covers your bet............argggggggg.

When i played Slots in the UK either at Gala Bingo Hall or at Grosvenor Casino (now Gala Casino) i had pretty good luck. Where i made a bad mistake and didn't have a good vibe was a this little divey no name Casino that looked as shady as the day is long. Should trusted my instincts because i lost my bankroll with zero play in a matter of 15 minutes without a single solitary break out even win.

How do you feel about small time little Casinos the UK that are not from a Casino group? Are they trustworthy?
