I was going to say this is too funny, but I guess it is not.  It is really sad.  Now she is out of a job and also facing a fine and possible jail time.  She must have been pretty desperate and just not thinking straight.  Even if she got them out of the casino she would still have to get them cashed in.  I really feel sorry for anyone that is desperate enough to do something like this.

Bitcoins worth $94M Hack

Almost 120,000 units of digital currency bitcoin valued at $94 million ($72 million US) was stolen from the exchange platform Bitfinex in Hong Kong. It is the second-biggest security breach ever of such an exchange in history.

Bitfinex is one of the biggest leaders for bitcoin, with a platform that has deep liquidity in the U.S. dollar/bitcoin currency and the bticoin bank Flexcoin shuts down after $600,000 heist.

According to Zane Tackett, Director of Community & Product Development for Bitfinex, 119,756 bitcoin had been stolen from users' accounts and has not how to address customer losses.

"The bitcoin was stolen from users' segregated wallets," he said.

Bitcoin dropped over 23 per cent on Tuesday. The next day it was up 1 per cent at $545.20 US on the BitStamp platform.

Tackett  also said "expose any weaknesses in the security of a blockchain".

"It's the biggest USD exchange, so outside China it's the one that everyone has an account with," said Antony Lewis, a bitcoin expert in Singapore. "It's very liquid, folk can trade on margin, lots of daily volume."

It has not been determined yet whether the heist was an inside job or if it was hackers able to gain access to the system externally.

Wow that's insane but I guess these things are bound to happen especially as it's fairly new on the scene and through these very large hiccups the industry can grow and strengthen its security..
I wonder if they have insurance on something like this or even if something like this can be insured ? I would not want to be one of the clients who's bulk funds are now somewhere being spent on the blockchain

Children Left in Locked Car at MotorCity Casino

While dad goes inside MotorCity Casino in Detroit to gamble on Monday, he leaves his two sons ages 2 and 5 months old inside car in the parking garage.

The children were discovered by casino employees who saw them around 11:25 a.m. locked inside a 2010 Ford Focus on the second floor of the casino parking garage on the 2900 block of Grand River. The temperature at the time was 77 degrees.

“The windows weren’t cracked or anything and they were locked in the car,” Officer Jennifer Moreno said. “Typically, if a vehicle is completely closed, even in the shade, in this weather, the inside of the vehicle can reach up to 120 degrees within 30 minutes.”

“They were removed from the vehicle by a citizen who forced entry into the car,” Officer Shanelle Williams said Monday. “When the scout (car) arrived, the children were already removed from the vehicle and awaiting police in a nearby office.”

His name is not currently being released at this time as the 25-year-old Ypsilanti man is now in custody and faces charges of child neglect and abandonment.

According to Sgt. Michael Woody he is at the Detroit Detention Center adding:

“He was prematurely released before we actually concluded our investigation to make sure there was any evidence there to arrest.

“We had to go out to make contact with him, to re-establish contact with him, go out to Ypsilanti and arrest him.”

 

“Certainly we’re always mindful of the process that is involved in investigating crimes such as these,” he said. “This particular incident was born from a need to expedite the investigation to get the kids back to their mother and in doing so the detectives improperly released (the father).”

 One day i went with my boyfriend to the auto store i sat in the car and i was hot. this guy pulls up in a truck with the windows tinted about 2 spaces down and goes into the store. about 5 mins later i hear this kid crying and am looking around and don't see any body. All of sudden while am looking at the truck i can see movement of little feet kicking from a car seat. so i waited a minute than went into the store and stood there by the door yelling telling the clerk someone left there kid in there truck and the kid is crying and that how hot it was outside.  ( i was still in my jammies ) at first the guy just stood there and than he went and got his kid. I don't think he wanted to get out of line. Everyone was looking at him.  I felt so sorry for that infant. I hate reading or seeing people being so stupid. Every year kids die because of this. it is so sad.

Yes shirl is really is a sad situatiton. I can't stand to see dogs locked in cars eitther. I did call police once when i saw a dog locked in a car at the grocery store with the window barely cracked and it was in the height of the summer heat.

New Casino for Cedar Rapids, Iowa

 

Wild Rose Casino is estimated to be a $40 million dollar project. This will be much smaller than the original casino plan, estimated at $164 million on the west bank of the Cedar River which was turned down by the Iowa Racing and Gambling Commission. 

The boutique style casino could have between 200 to 250 employees and bring in an estimated $6-$7-million dollars in employee payroll and benefits.

Honestly, I hope the new project coming from Wild Rose, gets shut down as well.  They keep thinking they have a huge hold on Iowa's gaming floor.  So they keep bidding on projects they know they won't win.

First they tried booting Prairie Meadows out of there market in Des Moines, by initially saying they were going to build a new casino there whether the gaming board wanted them to or not.  Which eventually involved a few law suits and in the end Wild Rose lost there battle.

Plus there are already 3 casinios within an hours distance from Cedar Rapids.  How many casinos within a short drive does one need in Iowa?

Horse Racing Needs Casino Vote in New Jersey 

New Jersey residents vote today on a referendum for two casinos outside of Atlantic City. If the voting goes in favor for the casinos it will greatly improve the horse racing industry and the state.

 

Ron Simoncini, a representative for the Advocates group said in a statement:

“This should affirm for the voters that the prospect of new casinos in North Jersey will bring significant benefits to the state. This is a complex moment in New Jersey’s history, but one that has many sincere interests working to create equity across the board”.

However, in the most recent polls conducted it shows 55 to 71 percent of the residents will vote that casinos stay in Atlantic City. 

Casino Responsible for Man Beating Up His Girlfriend?

Pennsylvania man who spent four years in prison for beating his girlfriend at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem is suing the casino for allegedly serving him too many free drinks before the assault.

Nicholas Mullins, 31, of Pennsylvania was in prison for 4 years for beating up his girlfriend while at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem. He is still on probation for the January 2012 attack. The casino takes no responsibility for Mullin behavior towards his girlfriend Caitlin Shields, of Pottsville, who he beat so bad her brain swelled and she almost died.

According to his attorney Stuart Niemtzow, Mullins is the victim after doing time in prison and now can't find a job and also being kneed in the groin and a broken nose during the argument.

"His life is the one that got ruined here," Niemtzow said.

Mullins believes that the Sands should have known he drank to the point of having alcohol poisoning at another casino months. Not only that but his girlfriend was allowed to drink, even though the Sands security knew she was on probation for drunken driving at the time according to Niemtzow.

Huge News for Vietnamese Players

Vietnamese citizens will now be permitted to play in local casinos after the government approved a three-year pilot program on January 20th. The ban that prohibited locals from entering land based casino establishments will now allow them to play at Phu Quoc Island and the other in the Quang Ninh province.

The government passed a mid-March date that will kick off the three-year pilot program. During this period it will help determine whether the ban should be removed permanently.

Vietnam players either go to other countries to enter casinos or place bets illegally online and as a result, the country has been losing millions in potential tax revenue.

Derek Stevens, casino owner of The D and Golden Gate places $352,000  in bets on the first round of the NCAA Tournament. 

Sunday, he jumped in on the action after the brackets were announced, with wagers $11,000 on each of the 32 opening round game for a total of $352,000 in bets for chance at a max win of $320,000.

 

“Man, these things have been tough,” Stevens told Brent Musburger (VSIN.com) “This has been brutal. The boys at the South Point, oh, they’ve been right on the number. Isn’t this amazing how great these bookmakers are in Las Vegas?”

 

Ameristar Casino Deal Caught Cheating

At East Chicago Ameristar Casino, a dealer was accused of ripping the casino off with an estimated $26,000.

Li Rong Gao, 45 years old who resides in Chicago was charged Friday, March 24th with felony theft for cheating while working as a dealer at the tables.

Ameristar surveillance manager contacted the Indiana Gaming Commission in November about possible cheating on Pai Gow Tiles game.

In the video, Gao allegedly dealt herself low hands several times with three accomplices she knew who won an estimated $26,000 and later was fired.

In court Gao denied allegations, telling police she was "just making a lot of mistakes."

According to SuperData research mobile gaming has gained popularity over PCs. PC gamblers dropped to 49 percent, mobile users have risen to 85 percent according to their recent poll conducted. In one year the desktop players fall from 15 percent to 6 percent.

Even though the desktop casino gamblers have fallen in percentage they are still the most active and profitable for casino app makers. On average they play 69 minutes per session and spend $80 per month. Compare it to mobile users it is 57 minutes and $40 a month.

Desktop gamblers spend $629 on a multigenre app and $556 on slots in a nine month period before trying new social casino games, according to SuperData.

One of the perks in Las Vegas is free cocktails, beer and wine at the casinos. Unfortunately, some properties in Vegas are going to put a stop to the freebie drinks to non-gambling customers at the bar. It was always a policy but never enforced in the past. 

"“We are making a concerted effort to reward our larger-spending customers,” said Rich Broome, executive vice president of communications at Caesars Entertainment. “This discourages people who are just looking for a free drink.”

At the moment it applies to video poker play at the bar. Players are entitled to a drink after gambling a certain amount of money over a set amount of time. Caesars has implemented a discreet green light that will flash as a signal for the bartender to start pouring. According to Broome, the system averages out to $4 a minute, and when light begins to starts blink after two minutes of play. Each drink is valued around $10 – equivalent to Johnny Walker Black or Smirnoff vodka but not a top-shelf malt scotch.

“If you don’t keep up the four dollars per minute,” he said, “it will start flashing red.”

Oaklawn Racing Tack and Casino remodeled last year added alot of room to casino and has gone to regulars casino slots in addition to those Horse track type games that were awful.  They still say they are not a gambling casino that their slots are a game of chance. LOL

They are not different that the slots at Horseshoe or any other casino. LOL  They have never offered free alcoholic beverages to customers but have self serve coffee and soft drinks.  WOW.  They take out state taxes on any win over $1200 but you can not claim on tax returns for a refund as the state keeps all and goes into special fund.  I have research very well as my MOM won alot several years ago and on retirement only. 

They do have a nice casino and very good food only negative is closes at 300am Sunday thru Thursday and at 600am on weekend and does not open back up until 1000am.  Also no valet parking and usually have to walk a ways or ride the tram which can be a wait to come by.

My sister has won a pretty good jackpot lately.

Also this is located in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Its the only licensed casino in the state.  LOL

The holding back on the Free Drinks is just despicable if you ask me 

they implemented the same thing here at the local casinos in South Africa along with the the time extension on the wait for the drink itself , often I end up staying at a table or slot  too long just waiting for the freebie Drink on top of it , guess it is a business at the end of the day
