Kuwait is a red-level online gambling jurisdiction where every type of Internet gambling is illegal.
Kuwait is a small country in the middle east. It borders Iraq to the west, north-west and north; Saudi Arabia to the south; and the Persian Gulf to the east.
All forms of gambling are illegal in Kuwait, and this includes online activities. Unlike many countries that have laws against online gambling that aren't really enforced, Kuwait is known for showing little to no tolerance for people who flaunt these laws, and there have been numerous reports of individuals arrested for running illegal online gambling operations.
What's really interesting about Kuwait in particular is that there is a bit of a push towards regulating gambling from certain politicians. This is closely tied to a bit of a more liberal approach to law and wanting to bring in tourists in resorts built with hotels, casinos and bars. Along these lines, the issue of allowing people to gamble is very closely related to that of allowing the consumption of alcohol, something else that's illegal in the country. Both of these are due to the influence of Sharia law.
Since there are no forms of gambling that are legal in Kuwait, there are no licensing processes in place for either land-based or online gambling. One particular politician named Waleed Al-Nasser has been pushing to add certain types of casino gambling to bring in tourism and help the local economy, and his work has slowly been getting momentum. If this was to happen, then the chances of regulated online gambling would drastically increase. For the time being, the tourism angle is really the most likely chance those from Kuwait have of a political path being carved that could lead to the regulation of Internet gambling.
We can't stress enough that there are no player protections for online gambling in Kuwait. Authorities here are known for being particularly aggressive when it comes to pushing back against those who would like to gamble online and otherwise, and there have been plenty of cases of people being arrested for various types of gambling. These reports include running online games in Kuwait.
Overall, we can't recommend any type of Internet gambling in this country. The risks are too high because of the hostile political and enforcement climate.
