Mali is a red-level online gambling jurisdiction. This means that all forms of online gambling are explicitly and totally illegal.

Mali is land-locked and located in the north-east section of Africa. It borders Algeria to the north; Mauritania, Senegal and Guinea to the west; Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso to the south; and Niger to the east.

The laws of several African countries are heavily influenced by Islam, and Mali is no exception. However, many of these countries do not take this influence to an extreme, and many of them have several types of social reforms. Unfortunately, you aren't going to find any reforms on the subject of gambling in Mali, and all forms of gambling are completely, totally and explicitly illegal. This includes online gambling as well.

This approach towards online gambling does not look like it's going to change soon, but there is a silver lining. No politicians or police officials have come out talking about cracking down when it comes to online gambling, and there are no records of any arrests or charges for it either.

Obviously there is no licensing process in place for online gambling in Mali. If we look to the future, it's unlikely that any licensing process will come about at any point in the next several decades unless something drastic happens. In fact, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to speculate that Mali would be one of the last African countries to regulate online gambling in the future. If some sort of land-based gambling like a lottery was to be licensed in the future, then we might have to rethink this evaluation, but for now, it still stands.

Player Protections

As you could expect, Mali has no form of player protection for online gambling. Some level of Internet-connection regulation is also in place, so it's unclear if the average citizen would be able to access foreign online gambling sites either. Gambling is usually punished pretty severely in African countries that ban it explicitly, so there is a lot of incentive to avoid it completely. If you do decide to gamble online, you do so at your own risk. We personally recommend that people stay away from Internet gambling if they are located in Mali because of the stiff penalties that are likely to come if charged.
