Sudan is a red-level online gambling jurisdiction since all forms of gambling are banned inside of its borders.

Sudan is the single-largest country in Africa, and it borders the Red Sea to the norht-east. It also border Eritrea to the east, Ethiopia to the south-east, South Sudan to the South, the Central African Republic to the south-west, Chad to the west, Libya to the north-west and Egypt to the north.

Sudan is an extremely interesting country when it comes to online gambling because their economy is in such a flux at all times, and this adds a certain volatility for the future. They are under a very conservative Islamic rule, and this means that all forms of gambling are currently illegal. This includes gambling on the Internet.

However, because they are under constant civil war, and because their economy is known for having major ups and downs, anything is possible in this jurisdiction. Of any of the countries in Africa that currently no online gambling as a result of the influence of religion, Sudan could be the single country that has the largest chance of regulating the industry inside of the next 20 years. Keep in mind that this is a still a long shot, however.

There is no form of any type of licensed gambling inside of Sudan. A number of other African countries are in the same boat in this regard, but some of them have started to regulate different aspects of the gambling industry in an effort to build revenues. Because of Sudan's wildly volatile economy and general situation, they do have non-trivial chances of doing this at some point in the future, though it's not particularly likely to be soon.

Player Protections

Our recommendation to players is that you do not try to gamble online from Sudan. The law is very specific in banning all forms of gambling, and along these lines, there are no forms of player protection in any way, shape or form. What's more is that the punishments for gambling could be particularly severe relative to the crime, so it's definitely not worth it. Internet connections aren't as reliable in this country when you can find them either, and that's another factor. A lot of legal infrastructure changes would have to happen in the future to make this a viable location for online gambling, but the revenues generated could help these infrastructure issues in a major way.
