Welcomes Trinidadian; Tobagonians

Trinidad and Tobago is an island to the immediate north of Venezuela. The Caribbean Sea is located to the west with the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Vincent are all to the immediate north.

Trinidad and Tobago is a very interesting online gambling jurisdiction for two reasons. First, even though online gambling is explicitly illegal there, tons of people play with foreign operators because of the complete lack of enforcement of the laws against gambling on the Internet. Second, they are in the middle of a transitional period where government officials are trying to make a push towards regulating and legalizing the gambling industry, so it's hard to know where they're going to be at five years from now.

No licensing process exists for online gambling in Trinidad and Tobago. With that having been said, there are a number of initiatives in place to change this. The basic idea is that players are getting in on the action with foreign operators, and the government has two options when it comes to doing something about this. The first option is to try to enforce the existing laws which won't really gain the government much in terms of revenue or building goodwill among their citizens. The second option is to legalized the industry to provide safe and locally-regulated games that players can enjoy. This would also allow the government to generate revenues which is the polar opposite of spending revenues on the policing efforts that would be required to enforce the online gambling ban.

While there hasn't been considerable progress on the regulatory front as of this writing, there's a ton of pressure from citizens and government officials to make it happen. Along these lines, it's all but inevitable that they change things up and have a licensing process in place at some point in the next several years.

Player Protections

Because there is no form of legalized online gambling in Trinidad and Tobago, no form of player protection exists on any level. In spite of this, there are no real policing efforts, and no level of enforcement has happened at all when it comes to the laws against gambling on the Internet. No players have been charged with crimes over playing these games, and that means that it's pretty much a wide-open market for players who are looking to get in on the action for themselves.
